Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
[Lucielle]Christine Bleakley said a bit more but, crikey, didn’t she look awkward, quite made me squirm – am coming to the conclusion she’s not suited to this programme
My interest in the show has taken a nosedive, it's still too long, a bit samey, and other than Katerina the judges make me
Agree with you on Christine, Lucielle, she still looks uncomfortable. Karen and her icy stares are beginning to bug me too, I noticed they're trying to create a Karen/Katerina feud, just as last year was a Karen/Jason feud. Childish editing, and again, just a bit
Sorry for sounding so grumpy! Just disappointed for Seb - I always looked forward to his routines, and the show will seem much less interesting without him.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
Thought of you, Jingle, when Sebastien went out, I know you've been rooting for him. It was rather dramatic and very sad the way he broke down. I liked the idea of the skills test - it certainly sorts the men from the boys - although who would have thought that Sebastien would have forgotten the steps he was supposed to do. Well, I suppose that's all part of the challenge. Pity though because he was undoubtedly the best of the three.
I was rather sorry Heidi went out because she brightened things up with her lovely smile
and she tried hard, despite her fears. I guess Sam will be next unless he improves drastically.
I had to shut my eyes when Jorgie did the head banger - her head was sooooo close to that floor.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
I actually watched DOI live - leaving the room when the ads came on - which meant I saw it all, as well as the skate-off.
As I suspected, Sam didn't make it, a shame because I liked him. I was surprised that Chico was in the skate-off. Poor chap, he looks so nervous while waiting for the verdict. It was obvious he was going to go through in favour of Sam. The sceptic in me niggles sometimes that it's planned a good skater is up against the worst one just to ensure they go - but that couldn't possibly be true.
There was no faking the gash across the nose inflicted by Jorgie's skate though - her partner was in stitches and I don't mean he was laughing. It just shows how dangerous this competition can be. I do wonder why DOI is not as popular with the GBP as SCD - learning to skate is much more difficult and the chance of being seriously hurt is far greater.
Christine still looks awkward, especially when trying to deliver a humorous line, although her empathy with the skaters seems pretty genuine. And wasn't she wearing the most gorgeous dress, which wasn't actually like this but stunning nevertheless.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
The one week I didn't vote for Chico and he almost went out!
I decided to give Chemmy my votes instead because I thought she should have been higher up on the leaderboard. I'm no expert but even I can see she's less reliant on her partner than Jen and skates with more power.
Was it me or did Phillip seems a bit too excited about reporting Matt's injury?!
Love having Katarina on the panel, she's a breath of fresh air. I just hope the boos from the audience, the glares from Karen and the backchat from people like Andy don't stop her being honest.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
I went right off Andy after his little tantrum, but also thought his routine was poor compared to the rest. He seems to lean forwards a lot, and still looks quite shaky. He obviously thinks he's better than he really is.
Thought Jorgie and Matt were brilliant, they're my new favourites now Seb's gone. But I can't help wondering why they allow such dangerous moves in a routine - a move which involves two skates going straight towards someones face is asking for trouble (same with Jen's backward headslice move last week, which both Robin and Katarina had pointed out was difficult to control). Anyhow, at least the lovely Matt still has both eyes in place!
I'd agree with you Sid, Katarina is a breath of fresh air on the panel...I hope Karen's sniping don't put her off. I also thought last night that Katarina's dress was hideous (netting, bow and puffed short sleeves) whereas Karen had a very glam sparkly number. I wonder does Karen get first choice of costume!
Shame Sam is out before Andy and Jen (
those bruises on his thighs looked awful). I wonder how the team challenge will work out (no prop night yet?)

Jorgie's ever so engaging to watch on the ice, but her ditsy persona grates on me.
I'd love a Chico, Chemmy, Matt final. But I can't see that happening somehow!

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
Good job that the girls won the team challenge - would've been a shame if anyone other than Andy went this week. Was a bit bemused about some of the scores. I didn't really see what was so brilliant about Matthews routine (which could've been retitled 'Lifting on Ice') or Chemmys either. Personally preferred Chico's performance to either of them, I love the way he goes for it big-style.
I coudn't make out whether Robin said next week is 'pop week' or 'prop week' (or maybe both?)
Final thought.....can they possibly make any more mileage out of Matt Ever's injury?! Felt like the footage was shown another 3 more times tonight....ewww.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
It was nice to see Jen turn a corner this week and Chico was hugely entertaining. But if it wasn't for him, I doubt I'd still be watching this series. It's beginning to drag.
Jorgie hasn't really progressed much, and whilst I do believe Matt's very good (I think it's taken for granted just how good his skating skills are) he lacks chemistry with his partner.
As for Chemmy, I reckon viewers felt she was over-marked this week and it put them off voting for her.

Agree, Jingle, Andy had to go. The right two were in the skate-off, imo. Can't help you with 'was it pop or was it prop' as I ff through most of the judges' comments.
I'm really liking Chico too, Sid, he makes me smile. I hope he makes it to the final three. I've always liked Jen's skating - her high kicks are very impressive.
Contestants larking about behind the presenter's back - now where have I seen that before?

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
Well, my heart was in my mouth, Chico in the skate-off and Chemmy saved first. Of course, it's planned that way. The judges know in advance who they are going to save, they also know Chico is favourite out of those two and hence the order in which the judges give their result. Ah, but what will next week bring with the Ultimate Skills Test, a minute on their own. The only one I envisage possibly having difficulty with that is Jen. That would leave Chico, Matthew and Jorgie in the final three. That would be excellent.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
Once in the skate off is unlucky, twice means you just don't have enough public support. So I'm resigned to Chico going out next or coming 3rd at best.
I can't help feeling that Louie's controversial mark for Jorgie was scripted in order to cause some drama. He can't really have thought her performance was only worth a 6.5? That said, I'm glad Robin & Katarina pointed out that she wasn't doing as much challenging skating as Chico & Chemmy. I've thought that to be the case for a while now.
On a completely different note, Katarina Witt is making me question my sexuality
The woman oozes sex appeal!!!

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
Totally agree with you Sid about Katarina, she's fabulous. I wish the Beeb could poach her as the new Strictly judge (even without a dancing background I'm sure she'd be great, and loads more fun than ms Hardy or Bussell)
Thought mixing the prop week with a circus theme worked really well, I enjoyed all of them, especially Chico's routine. Thought Jorgie got a bit of an unfair response from Louie - very glad she wasn't in the skate-off.
I guess Jen's the weakest link for the skills test next week....having said that, I s'pose any of them could 'do a Sebastien'.

Well, can't complain about the final three...the right choice I think. I've changed allegiances and am now supporting Chico to win - just love his attitude and he seems to be getting the most pleasure out of it.

Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
I can see what you mean, Sid. Chico did far more in terms of challenging moves than Jorgie and even Matthew, although Matthew has proved to be the more versatile. I have thought all along it would be those three in the final with Chico coming third but now I'm just wondering whether Jorgie is strong enough to be the runner up. There's just a chance Chico may beat her. Actually I much prefer watching him than anyone else, but I do it looking through my fingers - willing him to get through. I agree, Jingle, he is getting the absolute most out of this experience and, if he does go out next, he can congratulate himself. He's a bit cheesy but because of his engaging manner I forgive him. I do love his solid style, it reminds me of John Curry. So here's wishing Chico the very best but I think Matthew will take the title.Sid wrote:I can't help feeling that Louie's controversial mark for Jorgie was scripted in order to cause some drama. Re: Dancing on Ice 2012
Given he came in late as a reserve and hasn't had any ballet or gymanstics training, I think Chico has come on the most. He's overtaken Jorgie (in my opinion) and is almost neck-and-neck with Matt.
I find him totally loveable and endearing, and his and Jodeyne's reactions to going through are BRILLIANT!
I'm sort of glad they had to rely on the public vote to get through at the weekend. It will have given Chico an extra boost knowing were were behind him. I'll be putting in a few more votes for him in the final. I'd like him to be given the opportunity to perform Bolero at the very least.
