I have to confess...I *do* miss Arlene, despite not actively liking her very much!

But I liked it that the panel knew more about the technical side than we did, and sometimes they'd point out something that I'd missed, or I'd be sure that somethine had gone wrong, but didn't know *what* and when it came to the judging someone would explain...
I wish Arlene had been replaced by someone with actually technical knowlege. *sigh*

Yeah, her replacement made losing her even worse. Arlene's like one of my role models, but that aside, she was good at being a judge.

I wasn't too pleased at Alesha replacing Arlene but, as a judge she did tend to get carried away with the sexy angle and was a bit over-excitable when marking because of it. She looked for show-business class in amateurs which was a bit unfair. Technically she was a long way behind The Love God that is Leonard The Lion Goodman and last of the four in my pecking order. Just my view.

On the training video thread there are some reactions to Arlene's comments about AW

I didn't enjoy the swooning over the guys (albeit she was egged on by the rest to "play this role"), and thought the overuse of illiterations was naff, but I did miss her last year. This may have been due to the way she was got rid of (no-one else went), and yes I did not think much of her replacement. I think I missed her in part though because she did give specific advice to celebs at the times when needed. I remember some of the not so nice stuff she said, but also remeber the advice about posture and arms/legs. She also was particularly nice to Letitia when she was suffering from a huge lack of confidence, and I thought that sort of support was missing last year.

I don't think I will miss her this year though, as times have moved on and so has she.

I won't miss Arlene this year actually, having seen her article, she seems happy to be off.

Yes I agree with you above, something was missing..that support she offered

Think Arlene yes didn't deserve to go but its done and we are sighs left with Alesha.... I just wish that maybe Lillia or Ian or a combo of a professional ex dancer each week has a guest spot on the judges panel!

I just think its got to the point of who can be theatrical the most out of Silver tongued Italian Stallion/Alesha and The Love God that is Leonard The Lion Goodman sometimes.the fabu-u-lus darling one remains the darling

Arlene? who's that?

Don't miss all that fawning around, swooning at hip actions, constant flirting and boring alliterations. (sorry about my spelling, can't find the dictionary)

Blimey Inanna - that's an awful lot of post for one so aged! Do you spend your life sitting in your bath chair with a laptop tapping away night and day?
